At Playa Vista Medical Center, we specialize in administering physicals. We're thorough, we're efficient and we're equipped to offer a large variety of exams. Here are just some of the physicals we frequently perform.

Annual physicals

An annual physical is vital for early detection of medical conditions that can develop without symptoms. These include diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol and prostate cancer.

Executive and pre-employment physicals

For professionals whose contracts are contingent upon passing an exhaustive medical exam, we offer comprehensive physicals, including extensive lab analysis, EKG, and treadmill-stress tests. We provide complete reports, along with advice on interpreting the results. We also offer a variety of other pre-employment physicals and drug screenings.

Sports and School physicals

Whether the player is a high-school sophomore going out for football or a previously injured college basketball forward, we can determine if he or she is fit to compete.

DOT & FAA physicals

We perform the Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration medical exams.

Job Specific Ergonomic Physicals

For individuals assigned to physically demanding jobs, we can determine whether they are safely able to perform the required tasks.

INS Exams

Dr. Kent Shoji and Dr. Alia Matthews are approved USCIS Certified Civil Surgeons working at Playa Vista Medical Center and able to provide this service to those needing an INS exam.

Please call the clinic at 310-862-0400 to schedule an appointment on a date and time when Dr. Shoji is working. Please note the following;

• If the patient does not speak English, they will need to bring a translator to the appointment.

• Please bring all immunization and medical history documentation to your appointment.

The costs for INS Exams are as follows:

Examination, forms, Blood Draw and PPD Testing: $140.00

Mandatory titers are RPR (syphilis) $ 14.00

If other titers are needed, they will be determined during the visit (it will be unknown until the MD examines the patient). Below is a price list for the common titers.

Immunizations will also be determined during the exam (the MD will have to examine and collect medical history before the needed immunizations will be known). Below is a price list for immunizations.

If a CXR (i.e. chest X-ray) is needed, the patient will need to schedule an appointment at Western Imaging located 5 minutes away. Their telephone # is 310-287-4000 Scheduling or 310-836-4700 (main number). Please tell them it is for Playa Vista Medical Center (“PVMC”) and your discounted cost will be $45.00 (the clinic’s price is $85 so you receive a discount). You will be required to pay this pay for this service at the time the chest X-ray and reading are done.

If you need all of the titers the cost is $302.00 (this includes a $20.00 handling fee)

• MMR $81.00

• Hepatitis B $102.00 each (will need total of 3)
• Varicella $160.00 (will need to be ordered)
• Pneumococcal $60.00
• Hepatitis A $114.00 each (will need total of 2)
• Meningococcal $162.00
